Biography
Loretta Addo-Danso is a doctoral student in criminology in the Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice at the University of Delaware. Originally from Ghana, she earned her bachelor's degree in social work with sociology from the University of Ghana, Legon. Loretta also holds a master's degree in criminal justice science and a certificate in womens' gender and sexuality studies from Illinois State University. Her master's thesis focused on how inclusive and welcoming women of color are on the websites of victim service organizations here in the USA using content analysis. She has also researched on the experiences of women of color affected by intimate partner violence and how the criminal justice system responds to their needs through the lens of intersectionality. Her experiences studying and working with victims/survivors motivated her to pursue a higher degree in criminology in order to gain more knowledge and skills which she can use to effect change in society. She hopes to become a resource as well as contribute positively to society and academia.
