Cresean Hughes will be an assistant professor in Sociology and Criminal Justice. His research interests include race, ethnicity, punishment, and social control with a particular focus on school discipline and other youth justice outcomes. Cresean received a bachelor’s of science in Forensic Science with an emphasis in Administration of Justice from the University of SouthernMississippi in 2008, a master’s of science in Criminology and CriminalJustice from Florida State University in 2010, and will receive aPh.D. in Criminology and Criminal Justice from Florida StateUniversity in July 2017.

Ellen Donnelly will be an assistant professor in Sociology and Criminal Justice. Her research examines the political development and effects of identification requirements on racial and socio-economic inequalities. She recently contributed to a quantitative study of racial disparities in the Delaware criminal justice system for theChief Justice of the Delaware Supreme Court and the Access to JusticeCommission. Previously, Ellen worked with the Center for Social andPolicy Studies to provide social science evidence for the PennsylvaniaCommonwealth Court's review of the state's voter identification requirements. Her work has appeared in the American Journal ofCriminal Justice, Journal of Crime and Justice, and Criminal JusticePolicy Review. Ellen holds a joint Ph.D. in political science and criminology from the University of Pennsylvania and B.A. in political science from Swarthmore College. At the University of Delaware, she will teach courses in criminology and problems in the courts.
