Biography
Yoonsik Kim is a doctoral student in Criminology at the Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice. He earned a bachelor's degree in the major of police science from Konkuk University in Korea, and a master's degree in the major of criminal justice from Pennsylvania State University. His master's thesis focuses on the relationship between male and female youth's marijuana use and family-related variables in the state of Pennsylvania by using a quantitative research method and was awarded an Outstanding Master's Thesis Award. In addition, he has participated in research with faculty during the master's program, exploring the relationship between youth's weapon carrying and other variables. Currently, his research interest focuses on juvenile delinquency and justice, criminological theories, and racial disparity in the criminal justice system.
