Biography
Chelsi Lamberton is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice at the University of Delaware. She earned her master's in criminal justice and criminology at Sam Houston State University in Texas, completing a thesis titled “A Legal Analysis of Health Care for Incarcerated Women in the United States." This thesis used doctrinal methods to analyze lawsuits brought by female offenders claiming violations to their Eighth Amendment rights related to inadequate and harmful correctional health care practices. Currently, she is using her thesis data to publish on incarcerated women's health and health care experiences. Chelsi has been part of multiple research projects inside of Texas and Delaware state prisons, collecting data on various topics including reentry, correctional officer stress and satisfaction, and using participatory action methods to implement innovations inside of a correctional facility that address needs identified by incarcerated individuals and correctional officers.
