Biography
Ann V. Bell is an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology at the University of Delaware. Her research, centering on the intersection of gender and health, specifically examines processes, inequalities, and constructions of reproductive health. Dr. Bell's most recent work, Misconception: Social Class & Infertility in America (Rutgers, 2014), examines women's experiences of infertility, particularly how those experiences are shaped by the class- and race-based social understandings of infertility and reproduction. It exposes the often overlooked economic underpinnings of reproduction, family, motherhood and health in contemporary America. Dr. Bell's other research has appeared in venues such as the New York Times, Gender & Society, Social Science & Medicine, and Sociology of Health & Illness.
